Solang is located 13 km from Manali in north India; it lies on the western bank of the Beas River. It is 8500 feet above mean sea level. Solang Valley, locally known as Solang Nallah, is renowned as the preferred location for adventure activities in Himachal Pradesh. Solang Valley derives its name from a village called Solang which is on the other side of the beas river and Nallah means water streams from mountains. Solang is not just about adventure activities, it’s about greenery, apple orchards, snow capped peaks that attracts many of visitors from India and abroad every year. The ropeway is a favourite among the tourists which is a convenient way to view Solang. The start of international skiing competition like Alpine Premier League has made the valley popular among foreign tourists. Solang slopes offer challenging skiing run to both beginners and advanced skiers. To enjoy skiing, January and February are the best seasons. In solang there is another holy spot to visit called Anjani mahadev, a pilgrimage dedicated to lord Shiva. The walk is easy and joyful. Anjani Mahadev holy place is surrounded by the rocky cliffs and a waterfall flowing down through rocks. In the winter season this fall forms a huge shivling because of the freezing temperature. The locals and visitors come and see the beautiful formation of the nature. In summer this formation melts and fall runs down to a stream below. To visit solang and Anjani mahadev May to October is ideal time.
